Affordable Housing Awareness Week
VCU Opportunity to Join the Community and Make a Difference
April 19-25

The Council for Community Engagement encourages the VCU community to participate in Richmond’s Affordable Housing Awareness Week. The week offers housing-related volunteer projects with various local nonprofit agencies. All VCU employees, students and alumni are invited to participate as an individual or to assemble a team to register for a project. Projects vary in length from 5 hours to a full day. With our collective effort, VCU can join with others to enhance our community.

Description:
Affordable Housing Awareness Week (April 19-25) is a combined effort by 14 nonprofit housing organizations to mobilize community volunteers to address the need for affordable housing in the Richmond region. Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in a service project for a day. The goal is to engage 750 volunteers during the week. Volunteers do not need any special skills or training. Lunch will be provided. Participating organizations include:
Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity
Better Housing Coalition
ElderHomes
Boaz & Ruth
Rebuilding Together of Richmond
Virginia Supportive Housing
Southside Community Development Housing Corporation
Community Housing Partners
